Garlic needs full sun in free-draining soil. It won’t do well in light sandy soils, nor heavy, soggy clay. Keep beds weed free.
Herbs
The saying goes to plant garlic on the shortest day of the year (in June) and harvest it on the longest. But in actuality you can plant it any time between May and the end of July.
If you leave it any later than that, the plants won’t bulb up properly...
