Spring Onions

Two years ago I sowed all the spring onion varieties I could find for a NZ Gardener trial . At the time I declared the best variety to be ‘Galloper’ (Egmont Seeds). But having eaten all of them now, I’d also recommend ‘Tokyo Long White’ and ‘White Welsh’. Lynda Hallinan, Hunua I let a couple of my spring onions go to seed and have ongoing plants throughout the year. Sowing the seeds then transplanting the seedlings is so satisfying and ticks the boxes in terms of achievement, satisfaction and saving a few dollars during these tight times. Doug Lambert, Levin
